Mouth Cancer Screening

At Cassiobury Dental Practice, we conduct annual mouth cancer screenings to identify changes in the soft tissues of the mouth, lips, and tongue.

The screening only takes a few minutes and includes a visual assessment of your lips, tongue, and mouth for unusual sores or red or white patches. We also use a handheld device to examine any unusual lumps or lesions.

If you are middle-aged or older, a moderate to heavy drinker or a long-time smoker, you have a higher chance of developing mouth cancer. Chronic sun exposure is associated with cancer of the lips.

If you notice any abnormal sores that persist for more than 2 weeks, please call our practice on 01923 223 278 as a matter of urgency. Early diagnosis through screenings at your dental check-ups is one of the best defences against oral cancer.
