Root canal treatment has a high success rate, but in rare cases, infection or inflammation can persist or recur.

When this occurs, a root canal retreatment may be your best option to save your tooth.

The treatment is similar to the root canal treatment but requires 2 visits. At the first visit, all the root canal filling materials are removed, and an antibacterial paste is placed to reduce the number of bacteria in the tooth.

At your next appointment, the paste is removed, and the canals are cleaned. You may receive a temporary filling but should have your tooth restored to its full functionality as soon as possible to prevent fracturing.
